Just 5 kilometers from EU Shengen border, lies forgotten, sleepy village at the north of Croatia. Life in Trnovec didn't change much since Roma people abandoned nomadic life and settled here. Most of the families live from social care and selling of a scrap metal. Conditions are inhumane, since hygiene is kept to a minimum. Police never ventures there, and integration to the rest of society is extremely slow.

106 years old mother of 24 children tells storyes of times in Austro-Hungarian empire, Nazi occupation and Communism, compering past to present.

Some kids go to special school program for Roma, supported mostly by volunteers.

Amazing photos, Mario, they tell the story perfectly. I very much invite you also to Eastern Slovakia, where within 4hr train ride from the booming Bratislava you can find stories like these. Do you have an idea as to how to approach this? We've been running projects to introduce Scouting to these kids and have been partially successful, how do you see the Croatian approach?
