With Youth Cards thru Serbia

by Gazela Pudar 10.11.2009

When I first came to Serbia, I was quite nervous what it is like.  I have heard roumors that it's not safe, but others kept telling me: "Oh, Belgrade is fantastic, go, go, go.."

The most famous Serbian brand is Belgrade definitely. Floating clubs and nightlife. Belgrade is a capital of fun of the Balkans and I saw a lot of young people coming from neigbouring countries, especially Slovenia just to have fun.

But I'm a history addict, and from that point of view Serbia is a must visit country! There is no many places when you can see so much opposite things in one.

More than 100 medieval monasteries, where you can almost feel the presence of the saints looking at you from old walls painted with predominant blue and gold color. Then, antique cities like the residence of the Roman emperors - Felix Romuliana or Viminacium ( I'm sure you don't know that 17 emperors of Rome were born on Serbian territory - I didn't). Very cute ethno villages are just a few things to add.

I used a chance and went to the rafting.  "The Tear of Europe" - Tara river takes place at 3-5 on a rafting scale, and is among the most attractive rivers on the planet. It surely deserves its place, since it's a breathtaking river with many beautiful waterfalls.

My friend recomended me to contact Serbian national office of European Youth Card EURO<26 user, since I'm a user. and ask for help arranging traveling around. This was a great idea since they had a lot of offers specially designed for users (hostels, tours) and was very helpful. Something I can warmly recommend to all who have ISIC or European Youth Card EURO<26.

They have a nice map representing all benefits you can have on your travel.  But contacting via email is definitely the best choice!

I can just repeat for Serbia what my friend told me about Belgrade: Go, go, go! :)

Just click on the star!
