Using the internet to put MDGs into action

From the 10th to the 13th of November, more than 150 young people will gather in the Austrian city Graz to set action on the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). They discuss, develop initiatives and celebrate. The event celebs are: 18 Winners and 15 Runners-Up of this year’s World Summit Youth Award (WSYA).

The WSYA selects and promotes best practice in e-Content. It demonstrates young people's potential to create outstanding digital contents and serves as a platform for people from all UN member states to work together in the efforts to reach the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

The four day Festival includes also keynotes by speakers from Intel, Ericsson, WITSA and the UN, youth groups and human rights organizations. Former WSYA Winners will share their knacks and knowledge in workshops dealing with the use of ICT for development and social entrepreneurship. At the Gala on November 12th the WSYA 2011 Winners will receive their certificates from representatives of governments, NGOs and the United Nations.
