Romanian press talks about Romania's hospitals decay

Malpraxis inquest at Bucharest“GrigoreAlexandrescuHospital”. A nine-year old boy entered coma after a tumour surgery. Parents accuse doctors they run out of blood during the over four hours long medical intervention. Parents say they witnessed some nurses coming out of the surgery room in a desperate search of blood supplies. The child had suffered a bleeding. In a few hours, doctors announced the boy’s brain was affected by the lack of oxygen. The malpraxis investigation’s results: the department’s chief temporarily removed, the anaesthetist penalized, the case forwarded to the Romanian Medical Association.15 June 2010

 

Malpraxis at Slatina. Health’s Ministry, Cseke Attila, dismissed “Slatina County Emergency Hospital”‘s manager, Ileana Roxana Dragomir and medical executive Alina Chiriac, after a nine-year old child died because of a…fracture. The boy got septicaemia after his arm was cut off following an infection he got while interned in the hospital. Sources say the boy was not given any antibiotics. 30 May 2010

 

“ConstantaCountyEmergencyHospital”, is unable to keep functioning. The hospital ran out of drugs and sanitary material”, announced Wednesday Nicusor Constantinescu , Constanta Munincipal Council’s president.26 May 2010

 

These past few days, patients interned at “Spitalul Universitar” Hospitalof Bucharesthad to buy themselves every needed thing from the drugstore, including sterile compresses and medical adhesive, perfusion medicine and antibiotics, but also sedatives and vitamins. This top hospital was bankrupt. The hospital’s bank account was left less than 3 euros. 12 May 2010

 

The last bottles of heparin of the DialysisCenterof the “TarguMuresCountyEmergencyHospital” were consumed the day before yesterday. In the absence of the medicine, the patients’ lives are already threatened. The heparin is a vital dialysis anticoagulant .19 March 2010

 

“IlfovCountyHospital” is out of one-use medical masks, syringes, antibiotics, anti-inflammatory drugs, physiological serum, in one word, basic medical care requisite.14 October 2009

 

Romanian Medical Association asks authorities to take urgent measures to address the acute lack of medicine in Romania’s hospitals. The Association’s representatives say great number of hospitals denounces the lack of medicine and sanitary substances.  Furthermore, all over the country there is a lack of oxytocin drug, a very important medicine. Perfusion medicine and anti-infective drugs are also missing, especially in SuceavaCounty. Also in Suceava, there are no more basic antibiotics for TBC treatment.Psychiatric hospitals are in urgent need of neuroleptics, antidementials drugs and psychotropic sedatives.10 November 2009
