Up to 5 million people, almost twice as many as now, could get the chance to study or train abroad with a grant from Erasmus for All, the new EU programme for education, training, youth and sport proposed by the European Commission.

According to the Commission's proposal, a strong independent programme for youth will no more exist after 2013. Youth in Action is the one and only EU programme that supports youth work, non-formal education, youth organisations and independent youth groups in Europe. In the new proposal, the focus on formal education will put at risk the core values of youth work, youth participation and the independence of youth policy.  

The European Youth Forum is going to ask the European Parliament and EU Member States for a strong and independent Youth in Action Programme for non-formal education, youth work and democratic youth organisations and an ambitious European Youth Employment Plan.
