Documentary about bullying

by EYCA Office 11.10.2011

Have you been the victim of bullying or are you currently being bullied? Do you have an inspirational story that's seen you overcome your abuse? Would you like the chance to share your experiences?

MTV and Firecracker Films are making a powerful and groundbreaking film that explores the universal stories of young people all over the world who have been affected by bullying, and gives a voice to those who want to make a stand.

So, if you've been bullied, are being bullied at the moment or have a story that will give others hope then please get in touch, as our experienced team would love to hear from you. There is absolutely no obligation to take part - we'd just like to tell you more about the project and see if it's something you'd like to be involved in. And don’t worry it won’t involve lots of intrusive filming either. All correspondence will be dealt with in total confidence.

We believe this project is important and unique in giving a voice to those who have fallen victim to bullying – thanks and we hope to hear from you soon.

Can anyone be involved?
We are looking for contributors aged between 14 and 24 from all over the world who have either been the victim of bullying or are being bullied.

How will the documentary be filmed?
The plan is for the documentary to be filmed by the contributors themselves and will highlight their personal stories; this is very much the victim’s story in the victim’s own words.
We are asking you to make your own video diary about your experiences, whether you want to talk to the camera directly about them, write a song, say a poem, draw a picture, take us somewhere, it is entirely up to you. Your video diary could be 5 minutes long or an hour.

What if I don’t have a camera?

Your video diary can be filmed on anything – whether it be an iPhone, a personal camera, a camera borrowed from school/university…anything!

What if I don’t know how to make my own video diary?
Once you have contacted us and we have made sure you are an appropriate candidate we will guide you through the process. We will send you a filming pack which will see you through every step of the way and help you to structure your video diary.

What do I do with the footage once I have filmed my video diary?

Once you have made your diary, we will have sent you a link to a private website where you can upload your footage. Only yourself and the Bullied Team will be able to view your footage.

How can I get involved?
You can contact us at Emma.Findlay@firecrackerfilms.com or Yourstory@firecrackerfilms.com or alternatively by phone on +44 (0)207 349 3492.
There is absolutely no obligation to take part - we'd just like to tell you more about the project and see if it's something you'd like to be involved in.
