Belarusian Paradoxes

by Valiantsin Kardzialiuk 15.01.2010
Belarus misunderstand trend. By the dictates of Europe's last dictator Alexander Lukashenko our historic national symbols have been replaced by young people hated Soviet model. But not everyone can put up with it, there are hundreds of people who care. We are trying to prove their case and to draw public attention. Sometimes even have to undertake risky attempt. What can respond to this civilized Europe?

And how do you see the next elections? Sorry for the students! Though I am sure their studies abroad will be an added value for them (and for the country). Keep spreading the information, greetings

Milinkevich - this is one of the Belarusian opposition leaders, who managed to unite and lead the most independent part of the population: the progressive youth, intellectuals, businessmen, etc. He was one of the candidates for president in 2006, when Lukashenkо method of rigging and all sorts of deceptions kept his power. Then, several hundred students who came to protest were expelled from school and continued education in EU countries. Many of the persecuted and to this day. Yes, indeed, for the demonstration of national symbols can be a substantial fine. Thus, the guy in the picture knowingly risked. I will not say his name )))))))) P.S.: Thank you Ann for the compliment. )))

I did not think it could be that bad either. But I browsed google now and: among the people thrown in jail, you must mean Milinkievič too, true? Do you see him as a hope if I may ask?

Not at all. This is just one small episode in the life of our country. There are many more serious things like student fees for their political views, the prohibition of any peaceful demonstrations and actions, censorship in the media and others. But many are simply afraid to talk about it, because for that you can easily lose the place of study or work. Thank you for your wishes.

Hi Valiantsin, you made me really happy to see that there are young people in Belarus ready to fight for democracy. What can I say to it, I wish you a big success! And I am always curious to know more details, something not touched by media's "what we should hear about Belarus". Thank you!
